Prof. El-Diraby research work focuses on knowledge engineering applications for integrated and smart civil infrastructure systems in e-city, with emphasis on three major domains: construction informatics, enterprise systems, and sustainable practices. The fundamental aim of this agenda is to support the realization of “knowledge cities”: sustainability-driven engineering of the urban systems based on utilizing the knowledge and expertise of all stakeholders in the e-society with a focus on life cycle costing and community engagement through the use of advanced CAD systems, building information modelling (BIM) as well as social network analysis and semantic systems.
